Mt St Helens was bursting with vast and beautiful views. Much of the forested landscape has been washed away by the huge eruption of 1980, now slowly returning to its previous state. The transformation is coming in all forms; kooky wildflowers, fields of strawberries, small sproutings of brush in endless gravel fields, even healthy tree saplings filling the landscape.
We walked around the mountain in 2 days, a 33 mile trek. It was one of the most physically challenging obstacles I have done, but totally worth it. The mountain watches over you every minute, edging you along with her immense beauty.
